After leaving Rio we ventured a little north to the Beach town of Saquarema planning to relax on the beach, but the weather turn a little bad and after and we decided that we would just spend the night before moving on. The beaches were very nice and empty with only a few hard core surfers and the locals playing vollyball with their feet as it is winter here +25C.
After a 3 hour bus ride to Rio and another 4 hour ride we were in Pararty - a major party town in the summer. We took the local bus to a near by water fall (Cachoeira Toboga) where we could swim and the rocks made a natural water slide which was a lot of fun. The town was an old colonial town that was a major port for gold leaving in the 1600s but was then abandoned in the 1800s when another route became quicker. Now it is just a beach resort for partiers as it is between Rio and Sao Paulo.
