After checking out of Circus Circus (a couple of dollars lighter after an unsuccessful try at the Monopoly machine) I made my way down the Strip to the Mandalay Bay and left my luggage with a valet (they don't have them at the youth hostels!). Then I gave Dollar back their car, still dust covered from it's rally cross expedition and caught the shuttle bus to the airport to wait on my family arriving. Despite the flight landing early they managed to draw out the arrival by being the last ones off the plane and through customs but I'll forgive them since it was so nice to see them!

We got a taxi back to the Mandalay Bay to check in - our first, but certainly not last, journey that took a good deal longer than it should have in a taxi. The rooms were certainly a couple of ladders (not just rungs) above the ones I'd been staying at in the hostels and it was nice to call reception and have someone brng my bag to the room rather than lugging it about myself! We went down to one of the restaurants in the hotel for dinner then after a quick trip on the tram and a short walk over to the MGM Grand went back for an early night...well early for me but everyone else's body thought it was about 5am!

In the morning we went down to the buffet and got our all day tickets for food - and there was certainly plenty of it! I've never been anywhere before that serves pizza, chinese and steak along with the more traditional breakfast items!! Euan had to have the pizza that morning just for the novelty value, however, everyone else stuck to the more traditional fare. After we'd all eaten more than we should we took a taxi to the Premium Outlet mall for some bargain hunting and some delicious ice cream at The Fudgery. I got dulce de leche with marshmallows - mmmmm! After dinner (the steak, chinese and pizza had been replenished and joined by many other dishes!) Mum, Dad and I went for a walk up The Strip to see the dancing fountains at the Bellagio and have a walk through Caesars Palace and the Venetian before making our way back to our beds.

After the breakfast buffet on Sunday morning we decided to head for the pool area...unfortunately so did a lot of other people and by the time we arrived Dad could only find one sunbed between us and it was crammed about 2 inches from people either side so we found some alternate seats near the pool bar that gave some nice shade from the heat and were excellent for people watching. In the evening we went to see The Lion King in the Mandalay Bay theatre. The show was excellent, Timon and Pumba always make me laugh. The scriptwriters also changed some of the dialogue to make it specific to Las Vegas and also mentioned the economic situation which was quite clever and funny.

On Monday we went to the other Outlet Mall in Vegas where I got my hair cut and Euan found some bargain trainers. In the evening we went up to the Mirage to meet Dad's cousin Jonessa for dinner. On the way we went through the shops at Ceasars Palace - Lesley was in (window) shopping heaven! The buffet at the Mirage had even more variety than the one at Mandalay Bay, including some delicious macaroni and cheese. It was lovely to catch up with Jonessa for a few hours. After saying goodbye we went for a wander up to look around the Wynn hotel which is beautiful inside before starting back to our hotel. We caught the monorail part of the way back which was a good idea because when we got to the tram station at Excalibur it was closed and we had to walk the remainder of the way - if we'd had to walk the whole way we'd have been in bed much, much later and with sore feet!

This morning it's time to check out and pick up our minivan for the journey to LA, fingers crossed for an easy journey!
