Thoroughly enjoyed my time in Miami Beach - didn't do very much though! One day I went to Downtown but didn't really like it, not really how I imagined Miami to be. So, I contented myself with going to the beach for a walk and a swim either in the morning or late afternoon when it wasn't too hot and looking round the shops. One day I walked over the venetian causeway to Miami which was quite nice - past the Maurice Gibb memorial park (didn't see if they've saved any space for parks for Barry and Robin!).

On my last night in Miami Beach (Monday) I went to a bar called Wet Willies on Ocean Drive with some people from the hostel and got an apple flavoured slush puppy cocktail (no idea what was in it!) - tasted quite nice though getting home at midnight wasn't my best decision when my taxi was booked for 530am. Up bright and early for my first trip on the Greyhound - hmmm, maybe an exaggeration but I did get up...when the taxi driver arrived! Greyhound was actually pretty comfy and we had a few stops along the way to Sarasota so not too boring. Also had some rain - glad I was in the bus!

Transferred to the local bus in Sarasota and, after I reassured him I didn't think he was going to the airport, was on my way to Siesta Key which is just as beautiful as I remember. Got settled in with Grace and Graham, had a wee look around some shops then walked along the beach to go for fish and chips at the Old Salty Dog - absolutely delicious!

On Wednesday we went to the beach in the morning (absolutely boiling hot as there was no breeze) then headed up to Ellenton to the Outlet shopping centre where I got a lovely candy floss flavoured ice cream and some bargain shorts in the adidas shop. After a BBQ dinner we went over the road to the beach to watch a beautiful sunset. Thursday we went to see The Proposal at the pictures (very good, Sandra Bullock is so funny) then I got a long overdue haircut!

After some delicious bacon and eggs I got on my travels again this morning - first the local bus back to Sarasota then up to Tallahasse via Tampa, change of bus over to Mobile then the final change to New Orleans, arriving 22 hours later! Phew!
