Where I stayed
The journey down to Venice was ffairly dull no exciting from losing passport, tickets and money etc. Got a train from Bern to Brig, then to Milan, and finally after 7 hours and 20 gallons of sweat (don't you love the juicy detail) we got to Venice. Some guy met us at the station saying he had a hotel we were a little sceptical but we went and had a look anyway cause it was late and we hadn't booked, Turns out it was fine and it was even air conditioned such luxury. Once we got settled in we went out and found somewhere serving pizza (hard to find in Italy i assure you :p) managed to find our way back and hit the sack.
So on our first (and only) full day in Venice we just headed straight out with the intention of going toPiazza San Marco we got a map from a souvenir stand and headed in the vague direction of the Piazza on the way we stopped and got ice cream for breakfast (mmm healthy). Eventually found San Marco after an hour or so of wandering took a load of photos and bought a few things. We got lost on our way back when we were trying to escape the worst of the mid day sun. I decided i would like to see inside the Basilica di San Marco so after getting lost (again) on the way we got there - eventually discovered that you can guess how close you are to the Piazza by how expensive the ice cream is - and found that the queue was huch and it was still very hot so decided to go for a wander around venice and got purposfully lost so we could see some other sites (if you ever go i advise it its great)
Well that was Venice now for Rome
