As is tradition on our honeymoon, on our morning of leaving our destination the skies were overcast!

So we ventured up the Pacific Coast towards Pismo Beach. The traffic heading away from LA was as heavy as going in. But we soon travelled past Ventura and Santa Barbara on the scenic route up the coast and the sun made its appearance again. And now for the fanfare... Sian let me take the wheel for the first time (to be fair, I was more than happy to leave the city driving to her!)! What an amazing drive it is through the Central Coast. Amazing winding roads, and fantastic views of the Pacific. We are hoping that as we continue up the coast tomorrow that the weather is good so we can stop off along the way. But even without perfect sunshine, it is a stunning place. Hopefully the photos that we have will do it justice!

After a relaxing afternoon in Pismo, we had an even more relaxing evening in Paso Robles at the natural hot springs hot tub. We had to change the location of our evening as the previous hot springs had lost our booking after we checked 4 hours before (not impressed!). But boy am I glad that we found this place. It was a 45 minute drive up the coast, but worth it. The journey was beautiful, climbing some amazing passes as the sunset across the San Luis Obispo area. River Oaks Hot Springs was perfect. The sun was setting, the water was sulphur-y, the hot tub was private and the sparkling Californian wine was only $16 a bottle. Wonderfully relaxing after a manic period of the honeymoon. This'll do nicely.

We continue north tomorrow.

Love you, bye xx
