We flew from Borneo to Bali, stayed in Bali for only a couple of days and then headed East to a little island called Flores. The main, actually only reason for this long, long trip was to go see the mighty Komodo dragons on the islands of Komodo and Rinca (near Flores)- the only place in the world that they exist.

It was pretty cool, we chartered a boat from Flores, so we had it all to ourselves. Felt like true royalty - we lay on the deck in the sun, looking out to sea. As we were looking out we saw barracuda fish jumping out the water, and then a pod of around 15 dolphins jumped along side our boat. Was amazing! I've never seen dolphins that close up. Unfortunately we were too mesmorised to get any photos.

Komodo National Park turned out to be just as great as our boat journey across. As soon as we got off our boat we saw a little dragon under a tree and lots of monkeys. We then were given a guide and went on a 2 hour trek around the island with him. Was such a great experience. There were monkeys, dragons, buffalo, deer, wild horses...all sorts. The landscape is also amazing - so dry and arid, with hills going on and on, yet surrounded by sea.

We saw at least 10 dragons. They are HUGE! Around 3 metres long and look prehistoric. They're the direct desendents of dinosaurs and are known to eat humans apparently. Due to this fact we were wary of getting too close but our guide insisted on us getting in there in the photos. He did, however, assure us that they prefer water buffalo to Scotsmen. . .
