Where I stayed
Belvedere Guest House
The Isle of Arran that is!! What a quaint little Island. I wish I could stay here longer.
The beginning...
Boarded a bus from Glasgow... but I bought a ticket to the wrong destination! So I had to take a train and back track for a little more than an hour. Then... I missed my stop (not by any fault of my own - of course... the door wouldn't open no matter how hard I pushed the damn button!!).
At this point I was starting to have second thoughts about coming to this Island (as I'm sure you can imagine!!). BUT, I finally made it to Ardrossan and boarded the ferry for the hour long ride to this spectacular Island.
Arran is a mountainous Island. The peaks are tall and oh so green. So, you can imagine, everywhere from the port is uphill, which wasn't very much fun with my too heavy suitcase (I wanna kiss the person who made luggage with wheels!).
I finally arrived at the Belvedere House (this grand Victorian looking house with shrubs and fragrant gardens galore!). I asked the friendly proprietor where I should go for some drinks. He recommended the Ormidale hotel because on Sundays locals (and anyone else) comes out for a little Scottish Folk jam session.
I had so much fun and met some fantastic people who I may run into when I get to Ft. William tomorrow. Before I leave for Ft. William though, I'm going to rent a bicycle and ride around the Island for a few hours. So... stay tuned!!
