Upon arriving in DC we couldn't believe what our car said the temperature was outside..93 degrees and climbing. - unbelievable. It was sooooo hot., and we weren't mentally prepared for it. Once we checked in we quickly changed into cooler clothing, however, it still wasn't suitable and we proceeded to melt along with the other tourists. Having been to DC before, we took the time to casually take in the city on day 1. On day 2 we took a great bike ride from the Mall area to Alexandria via the Mt Vernon pathway..about 18miles. The heat made it a little tougher, but it was still great. I had panicked the night before about the bike ride and the heat and Brian quickly reminded me that we weren't in the middle of Africa and that we would survive..and we did. We hit happy hour in Washington Harbor - the scene wasn't quite the Jersey Shore, but I guess it would do :). We ended the night at a Spanish Tapas bar in Georgetown - Bodega - which was awesome.
