Drove west and south beside the Thompson River from Kamloops to Lytton this morning... a stark contrast to the Thompson River through Union County, Iowa!  The Thompson joins the Fraser River at Lytton.  Fraser gorge runs south between the Coastal Mountains to the west and the Cascades to the east. The Canadian Pacific Railway runs through the canyon on one side and the Canadian National Railway runs along the other side.  A rockslide during construction narrowed the channel just above Hell's Gate, resulting in the need for a fishway, which also slows the flow of water.  Rode the Hell's Gate Airtram and walked the suspension bridge constructed at the narrowing of the canyon before continuing to Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver.
