I must say this last week with Jules and her parents (Bill and Cheryl) has truly been an adventure... from Zip lines to river crossings and from Settler´s games to 5 foot beach breaks we did it all. After Jules, her parents and I all met at a little restaurant in the middle of nowhere we started out in the wonderful town of Monteverde again with Mary and Michelle. After a day filled with a nature walk, Zip lines over the cloud forest and a night walk through part of the reserve we jumped in our 4x4 and took a ferry to Mal Pais (bad country). Well I must say that Mal Pais, despite its name, treated us well for 2 days as Bill, Jules and I surfed to our hearts content with all of us catching the best waves of our life. From there we headed up the coast to the most unpopulated part of Costa Rica. After driving up the coast for a couple hours on the beach, getting stuck and crossing rivers we arrived in San Miguel just in time to check in to the Blue Pelican and catch the glass off. Although the waves at San Miguel weren´t as good as in Mal Pais (due mostly to a lack of swell) it was nice being one of the only 4 people surfing that day. From there we forged new trails to the north, past a restaurant with the best view ever and arrived in Camoronal (probably one of the best yet most deserted surfing beaches in all of Costa Rica). Unfortunately it doesn´t matter how good a beach is if there is no swell, but we made the best of it splitting our time between surfing and playing Settlers, Prince and Paupers and Dutch Blitz. Although we were a little worried about getting back to the airport in time for Bill and Cheryl´s flight because of a water-down gas from our ¨buddy¨ Muco we ended up making it to San Jose with plenty of time and said our sad good-bye´s as Jules and I headed south to get to know Costa Rica and Panama better.
