Well I arrived in Otavalo (2 hours north of quito) on Friday night just in time find a empty bed in town and go to sleep in it. The next morning I woke up to the sound of vendors on the street setting up for the Saturday market they have here... it just so happens to be the oldest and most important market in all of South America (or so they say). I could barely make it out of my hotel and to the animal market because every street in the entire place was packed with stalls. I finally made it to the animal market and soiled my boots walking through cows, sheep, llamas and pigs as they were being sold left and right. Then I headed on over to the food market and took pictures of cows hearts, chicken livers and big pork chops... mmmm.

After that I found the adventist church and wow, was I welcomed! The church service was a great and I probably understood about 80% of the words of the sermon and didnīt have any problem following the ideas. Afterwards I was invited over to a members house for lunch and it was so funny. When I was stood up and said who I was in church and that I was from Loma Linda, California everyone thought that I wasnīt Adventist and that I was from Canada! So at the meal afterwards there were about 25 people there and one by one they realized that I was Adventist and boy oh boy each time someone realized that this gringo was their brother in christ they were so surprised and happy! Well for about two hours after the meal they were all asking me questions about me and the states (nobody spoke English) and I answered with ease! Then I found out that one of the guys was a taxi driver that usually would take tourists around quito, well because I was his brother in christ and thus not a tourist he drove me and his family all around the beautiful countryside for the next 3 hours (for free) showing me the best that Otavalo has to offer. Then after that we went to the afternoon prayer meeting and after that a bunch of us went to another house and played monopolio (monopoly in spanish) until midnight!! Well today they are going to take me to a waterfall and after that im going to another church members house. Then (yes it gets better) I confirmed with Omar, the Adventist from Quito, that I am coming to visit his family and church next Saturday for the weekend. Until then Iīm heading down to the Laganua Quilotoa.
