Oct 28, Mon: Our ship passengers were provided with a walking tour of Bonn, but I had Walter and Ulla to provide my roommate and I with a personal tour in and the outskirts of the city where we had lunch at a restaurant facing the river.

Bonn was the capital of West Germany following WWII until Germany's reunification in 1990.
However, Bonn's history actually dates back to the 1st century BC when Roman soldiers established their largest fort.

The city's most famous son is Ludwig van Beethoven, born in 1770, where a museum now stands.   At the age of 12, he was already creating sonatas.   I have seen original compositions of Beethoven at the British Museum many decades ago.   Beethoven's 5th Symphony is most people's favorite around the world.

Thanks to Walter and Ulla for meeting me in Bonn to show us around.
I will try to locate the photo Walter took of me in front of the Bonn Rathaus.
