SORRENTO:
Sep 14: Most in our group took the option to the Isle of Capri today, while a few of us stayed behind to rest and have a leisure day. That was a good choice for two reasons; 1) it rained today, and not a good day to visit Capri, and 2) the optional to Capri cost $130, and we knew we could do the same trip for much less.
Bill, Elaine and I spent the early morning on a leisurely walk to the port area with a visit to Hotel Regina overlooking the port area. Nice hotel with great views. We were planning to return here for lunch, but that never happened.
After our return to the hotel, I spent a few hours walking a few blocks to Via San Cesareo, a narrow street filled with shops, restaurants, and bars that eventually ends up at Piazza Tasso. I did some window shopping, took pictures, and bought some cigars. When I reached Piazzo Tasso, I went to a covered outside cafe and had some beer with large, delicious, green olives and peanuts, smoked a cigar, and watched the world go by for about one hour. I then walked back to the hotel, and took a short nap.
Just what the doctor ordered.
