APR 5; DUBROVNIK. The Stari Grad is the old section surrounded by white stone walls. It is
regarded as one of the world's most exquisite walled cities, and the pictures I post will confirm it. The city-state's period of autonomy was from 1358 to 1808, but some of the historic sites >sustained damage during the Balkan's conflict after the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990's. The Serb-Montenegrin forces shelled Dubrovnik for 7-months that resulted in significant damage to the historical sites. Dubrovnik was later restored through UNESCO supervision.  We had two tours to Dubrovnik; the first during the early evenings hours on the day of our arrival, and an organized tour with a local guide the following morning.  During our tour, we visited the Rector's Palace, a Franciscan Monastery housing Europe's oldest pharmacy, most of the side streets, and the back in the back.                         2,090 steps

In the afternoon after our day tour, we coached to a village, Gromaca, about 17-miles away, where we met some locals, and joined a local family for a home-hosted dinner. This was the last port in Croatia for our tour.
