APR 1, We coached to Plitvice Lakes and Split today. After three wondrous days in Zagreb, we were finally headed to Split to embark on our 50-passenger ship, the MV Artemis. Before proceeding to Split, however, we had a special tour of Plitvice Lakes, the largest national park in Croatia with over 73,000 acres of mountainous terrain and water. Their main attraction are their 16 turquoise-dark blue lakes with their attendant waterfalls at different levels. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.

Words just can't do it justice, so I'll just post some of the pictures I took while there.

We arrived at the ship at 7:15PM, and was welcomed by the ship's staff. We were asked to check into our stateroom, and gather in the lounge at 7:45PM for a welcome drink and briefing before dinner on board.

MV Artemis Information: Gross tonnage 1206; displacement 1053; length 179'; width 36'; max cruising speed 13 knots; and water capacity 76 mt. The ship's staff = 21 for 50 passengers.

We were the first passengers after a complete renovation of this ship, It was nice to be the first,
because everything was fresh-looking. But more importantly, the service and food on the ship were first class.

Pictures taken during the day.
