FAREWELL DINNER

OCT 6: Today was the last day of our tour, and as usual it was filled with site-seeing of the Mausoleum of Ataturk with a good museum, Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, the old city bazaar, Ankara castle *Galatians, and having our farewell dinner at a very unique
restaurant not far from the Anatolian museum with displays of cars, pictures, airplanes hanging from the ceiling, an open kitchen, and other old artifacts - with some from the US.The 19-days of this journey that included the two travel days were exceptional in many ways. We saw things in Turkey that are one-of-a-kind in this world including the many excellent museums, their beautiful country and their people, mostly healthy food, and pretty good beer and wine.  The only complaint I have is the volume of information that was provided to us by Cumhur, our Tour Director, that was impossible to remember even a small fraction of all he shared about his country.  I was on overload so often on different tours, that I just had to walk away from the group.   I tried to make up for some information by researching the web on the different sites that we visited.   On others, I was just too lazy to get the proper information to the pictures I have posted.   I apologize for this short-coming.I was supposed to visit Syria on a pre-trip, but the company canceled this extension when the political uprising resulted in too many people getting killed.

All-in-all, I very much enjoyed this journey to Turkey, and felt that Cumhur is one of the best in the tourism industry.   When young, Cumhur wanted to become Prime Minister of his country, but found that the political world was not for him.   Not good for the Turkish government, but tourists gain from this exceptional man who knows its history well, and knows how to keep his brood entertained and safe.   Even the 37 in our group were always punctual, and we all got along!~

I hope you enjoyed this journey with me.
