Where I stayed

Dalat is a French colonial town (once known as Little France) located 4900 feet above sea level, and a bit cooler and more comfortable climate-wise compared to the other places we visited.  The French influenced the city with villas and boulevards, and Swiss chalets, that still charms the city today.

During our travel to Dalat from Nha Trang, we learned that the road we were on was flooded, so we had to return to highway 1 to find another route to Dalat that delayed our arrival by two hours.  We didn't miss any of the planned program to ride on cable gondolas and a visit to the recently built Buddhist temple.  The cable ride reminded me of the cable ride in Cairns, because we rode high above a forested area.  The Buddhist temple has beautiful grounds with tropical flowers and interesting scenery.

set 8: This hotel is owned by the cofounder of DHL.  I believe it was once a palace.  It's located only a couple of blocks from the Novotel Dalat where we stayed, and a small group of us went to the bar for drinks one evening.

set 9:
This was the host family for dinner for our small group.   The
architect worked on the Buddhist temple we visited on our way to Dalat.
Both children played and sang music for us.
