NOTE: I posted a picture and blog about meeting up with brothers we met in Costa Maya in the first blog of this series. Here's a picture of them again:

JAN 19: Costa Maya, Mexico, has a nice pier area developed by Carnival cruiseline with their many souvenir, jewelry, and t-shirt shops. They also have a swimming pool and beach area with lounge chairs, and more than enough bars to satisfy anyone's thirst. Alex and I had a beer before going on a tour to the Mayan ruins, and stopped at Fat Tuesdays for a banana daiquiri when we returned. The transportation to the Mayan ruin by van cost us $40 each (they get
$50 from most other customers, but I asked for a discount). For a three hour trip, it was a good bargain. The ship charged $89 for the same tour – although they did have a local guide, but with more than 40 in their group. Our's was a better bargain.
