Unless one booked an organized tour from the ship or from the pier vendors, the only thing available to those of us from the ship was the terminal building converted into a marketplace.  My roommate and I opted to stay close to the ship, because none of the tour offerings at the pier looked interesting.

JAN 17: Santo Tomas, Guatemala, was a quickie visit to a converted terminal at the pier they made into shops. The one good thing about this venue was the presentation of cultural shows and local music. The vendors sold the same-looking crafts, t-shirts, and jewelry – that looked like “Made in China” products. Spent a half hour at the internet cafe that was on a siesta – it was very slow, so I couldn't get much done. The keyboard logos didn't operate like they should, and it took almost 10-minutes to get to my Yahoo mail. Otherwise, it was a very relaxing day on the ship.
