Where I stayed
Had my first night in Gold Coast. Nothing strange, just beautiful and deep sleep. However I did woke up at 5am to check the sky from my window. It was already bright unlike when I'm in Malaysia. Decided to continue my sleep since everybody was still in their dreams.
Our theme park exploration began with Warner Bros Movie World today. We bought our access ticket for 3 parks yesterday at Surfer's Paradise. Honestly I was actually more excited to meet the cartoon characters than trying those crazy rides that could displace my heart. Sorry for being a bad companion guys.
We reached entrance of Movie World after a bus ride from our apartment. All theme parks are easily accessible by public transportation (bus). The only person who felt the discomfort during bus ride was probably Apeq for he had to fold and unfold Harris' stroller when we boarding and alighting the bus.
From ticketing counter, I saw a almost 90 degree roller coaster in red paint railing right in front of the entrance. GREAT starting point, for i was already felt half hearted enjoying Movie World but instead willingly volunteer to look after Harris while his parents enjoying the ride. Ok, i have to admit that i am not really afraid of height but the idea of falling in a roller coaster ride for even 60 km/h does not sounds like fun to me. I haven't been on Genting Highlands' roller coaster nor solero shot. I know, shame on me.
So, the others start with Batwing Spaceshot near the entrance on the left side. I surrendered and offered myself to look after Harris even before they asked me. I might get on this ride with them after warming up with other few rides. MAYBE. Being launch vertically up 60 meters and followed by gravity fall as a first taste of Movie World didn't fit into my blueprint of happy theme park outing. I rather play a babysitter and photographer for them.
Moving on, as expected the next ride was Superman Escape, the red roller coaster track i saw from the ticketing counter. I may like Superman to save me when I'm in distress and flew me around the city before sending me to my safe bed but getting on a machine with few other people not in distress that climbs 760 meters height, moving in downwards motion with possible velocity of 100 km/h and twisting at places and moment you less expected is my definition of TOTAL DISTRESS. How hard I may scream for the machine to slow down or cease the crazy twisting, I know it won't listen but continues till it completed the programmed cycle. If I were with Superman, obviously he would suit his flying speed to my liking. So, I passed this ride. And the most I did was captured a photo in front of the ride like I had successfully and safely rode the Superman Escape.
I was relief and happy when they decided to walk towards the main road where Batman car was in parade and all souvenir stores were located.
Among the many souvenir stores, Warner Bros Boutique, Harry Potter Shop, Shrek Shop and Daily Planet are locate at the main road.
We took the chance to take photo with Scooby Doo before joining the queue in front of Shrek 4D Adventure.
It was more to please Harris (and me) for not having to enjoy Movie World yet hehe...But after a quarter of the show, Harris felt uncomfortable with the dark surrounding and sounds & image he failed to comprehend. Nurul, Apeq and Harris left us to continue following Shrek adventure journey with some mist of water sprayed onto our face and rocking chair.
Little Harris was not happy for having to follow Shrek adventure halfway and told mummy to have a special photo session with Shrek after he returned from his journey to make it up to it. At 1330, Shrek appeared and Harris had his first personal meet with this soft-hearted green ogre. Of course, we also were excited and wouldn't want to miss this photo session although the guys envied Shrek for he managed to won Princess Fiona's heart. Would u think Fiona would chose Incredible Hulk over Shrek since Hulk is more muscular than Shrek although they have the same green skin? I personally like X Men :)
We continued the day without having our lunch. I was famished but couldn't find anything to eat in here comforting my tummy. Lucky we had packed sandwich. Ok well, I hadn't been on any ride since morning and when I spotted Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster, I knew I was ready to challenge myself.
When me, Sayra, Botaq and Yem entered the front door, we were welcomed by dimly lit courtyard. The spookiness yet to arrive. One trick that works for me, when I'm blinded or could barely see my surrounding, the fear vanishes from controlling my mind. So, in this indoor ride, I wasn't prepare for anything. There was no coaster trail in front of me for my mind to anticipate any negative possibilities. I didn't know how high the climb can be, I didn't measure the steep of the downfall and I couldn't hear or see other passengers' reaction on the ride. This ride prepared nothing for me to expect. I found my seat, fasten the safety belt and ready to enjoy the ride. Yeah well, I screamed my lung out after few minutes in the ride. The sound effect and laser lighting worked well on me. But it wasn't the loudest until the coaster slowly climbed to its highest peak (I guess) and be in a still motion for few seconds before changing direction and from that moment I know that we gonna hit the bottom on opposite direction than usual. Wooooaahhhh, we fell backwards!!! The least I expected it but it was fun.
The rest of the day continued with riding Wild West Falls Adventure Ride where we all got ourselves half drenched with the splashing water.
We even competed among ourselves at the games stall to win Harris a big tweety bird soft toy :)
Before heading to the exit door and call it a day, we joined Harris with his rides in Kids' WB Fun Zone. Sometimes it's fun to act like a child and stop playing adult for a day. It was worth meeting my long lost boyfriend, Bugs Bunny.
So after satisfying the kid in everyone's heart, we shopped for some souvenir and ready to hit the road back to Surfer Paradise. We met Feezah, Rudy and Tehah again, heading to the same direction.
My tired feet screamed for rest but the shopaholic in me couldn't resist to check flea market along The Esplanade. Many sells art and craft stuffs but we were fascinated with stall selling and demonstrating street magic. Bought nothing that night and that's how we ended our second day in Gold Coast.
