Where I stayed
As is normal for my return trips...I checked into a nice hotel (Za Za) for my first two nights to help wash 23 hours of traveling off me and to just feel comfortable and be lazy for a while. First stop after a shower was of course to see Tanya. After two days of catching up, eating good sushi and saying hi to her parents, it was off to see my parents in Oklahoma City for Christmas. It's always good to be back in Oklahoma and to spend some time with the family and be a country-boy again. I spent a total of 4 days up in OK and most of it was spent eating way too much home cooking, drinking mediocre Oklahoma beer (sorry Dad...Busch is bad beer) and celebrating Christmas (first with the immediate family...and once again with the extended family). Santa was very good to me and it was good to be back home again.
After a couple days back in Dallas, Tanya and I headed to Florida to visit my mother and spend some time with her and her husband Mike. No matter how much I tried Tanya would no go fishing with us...so she enjoyed most of her time in the hammock. We spent one day over on Sanibel Island on the beach which was great. I also got to meet one of my favorite authors at the restaurant he owns on Sanibel. Randy Wayne Wright owns a restaurant called Doc Ford's and Tanya and I got to spend a few minutes chatting with him. He even gave a signed copy of one of his books (it's a great book by the way...it's called "Batfishing in the Rainforest"...check it out).
Back in Dallas for my last week before heading back to India. I worked out of the Irving office all week so I got to catch up with some of my consulting colleagues...good to see them all. Tanya and I went to dinner with several of my friends in Dallas at the Porch which was very, very good. Tanya's parents were kind enough to put up this homeless kid from India for a few days at their place during my final week in Dallas.
It was a great trip back home...already missing everyone....and the food. :)
