Sorry for slacking off recently on my blog updates...the job has been busier than usual.  On with the show:

Yes, you read the title of my blog correctly, Jethro Tull was in town.  And for once, Facebook came through.  I posted on my Facebook status that I was looking for tickets to the soldout shoe so Tanya and I could go watch the Tull concert and my friend Roshni came through!

The concert was held in a very nice venue (not to big, not to small) close to my office an when Tanya and I arrived there was a huge line just to get in the front door.  While we waited in line my friend Roshni shows up and we sat down during the middle of Anoushka Shankar's set.  You can read more about Anoushka by clicking here, but here's the summary:  She plays the sitar which is an amazing sounding musical instrument, she's the daughter of famed Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar who is famous for collaborating with the Beatles and...she's the half sister of Norah Jones.  Anyway...Anoushka's music was very sitar-like but also very captivating...it was nice.  After a 10 minute break Tull comes out complete with Ian Anderson playing his flute on one leg looking like a teenager and not the 61 year old man that he is.  They play most of their hits and the crowd was loving it.  Some comments about Indian concert goers:  1) Very polite for the artist, 2) not used to a white guy screaming when Aqualung is played, and 3) not very enthusiastic for the encore...I think my applauding alone got Tull back on stage for the encore.  Anyway...after Tull's set there was an intermission and after wards both Tull and Anoushka came out for a third "fusion" set.  The music in the third set was Tanya's favorite and I was surprised how much I like it as well.

It was a great night and something different for Hyderabad for sure.  Thanks Roshni for the tickets!!!  Sorry the pics are a little dark....but I've also uploaded some videos for your listening pleasure.

Cheers,
Brandon
