As Neha is leaving us this coming week, a group of us from my company met for dinner at Little Italy and then drinks and dancing at the F Bar.  I had told my non-firm friends that we'd be at the F Bar later that night and pretty soon my company friends are interacting with my other friends and word starts to spread about an after party somewhere near HITEC city in a field overlooking the city.  Hmmm...sounds interesting.

What I didn't let you know is that's it's now monsoon season in Southern India and there are torential rains every day some quite powerful.  As a result, the roads that are paved are underwater and the ones that aren't paved are muddy paths.  As we get closer to the after party, it becomes evident that this party is on a road that is now a muddy path.  And to make matters worse, traffic is so bad we are forced to get out of our cars and walk along this muddy path to the party.  Bye bye shoes...they're ruined.

Two or three times on the way to the party I almost turned around...I'm glad I didn't.  This was probably the biggest party in Hyderabad that I'll ever get a chance to go to.  Turns out it was a wedding pre-party for someone and whoever was throwing it was spending a lot...A LOT...of money.  They basically built an entire pyramid in the middle of nowhere...yes...a pyramid.  Along the base of the pyramid were bars and food stations....as you climbed the top of the pyramid you arrived to the dance floor which was probably 3 stories above ground level.  The drinks were flowing up there as well.  Did I mention the entire pyramid was under a large tent?  I would guess there were at least 500 people...maybe more.  We had a ton of fun and at the end of the night (3AM or so) I walked back down to ground level and there were actual camels giving rides to the party goers.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity to ride a camel at 3AM in India, could I?  So off we went for a little ride...I don't think the camel liked me.

I'll miss my shoes that were ruined...but it was definitely a good time in Hyderabad....India isn't all that bad!  ;)
