Well its been a few weeks since my last post and its the end of the johnny farnham farewell tour of sorts and the song that comes to mind is that dude in the combi on the telstra add....i been everywhere man.....and its only going to compound from now on.
will try keep this brief but those of you who know me well i'm a great waffler but i'll try my best.
Last day of work at the SSAA was tops went to Indochine for lunch in box hill. had some awesome tucker(saigon spring rolls and the bo la lot i.e. fancy san choi bow were sensational) got a cool pressi then hit teh frog nd toad for a beer with ratty and blandy before heading up to corryong. Had a stop over in albury to visit a mate and his gf and to go shopping with my cousins and aunty.
The main reason for this little expedition was to spend some quality time with me nan before the big trip and get in a spot of hunting before the big trip. highlights of the week in corryong include;
1: Nan's amazing home cooking as well as aunty wendys with the highlight being roast venison and all my fave desserts during the week, raided nans cookie tin on more than one occasion too.
2: watching my mates play for corryong and seeing little reggie man cheering the guys on with my cousin Rae who i went hunting with.
3: going out in the high country deer stalking and seeing 12 deer over the weekend in the wild and getting buck fever for the first time, upon seeing a big stag in the wild on the side of a hill soaking up the morning sun not having a clue i could see him.
4: the early morning runs up to the lookout and then down to the river around the town was very refreshing and even got a few toots from the local ladies whilst i was on my runs which was pretty funny.
5: board games and cards with nan and just enjoying a cuppa and having a chat out at the trout farm with the noise of the crystal clear stream in the background autumn leaves surrounding the balcony, just awesome.
They do say it is better in berrigan well now i can say at least the coffee is haha. the idea of the week here was to visit my mum and sister and chill out with them and my close mates from back home and have a run around with the footy club id first started playing with as a junior at the age of 9 in u14's. was an awesome week watching with highlights being movie marathons with my sister making pop corn and talking crap. coffee from the blue door cafe courtesy of evans butchery and having a great chin wag with spency and Kev and a few sherbets on parma nights and then a bit of pre game prep with the coach during happy hr was fantastic.
Also heading down to the A. L Dickens oval for a run around on training nights and pulling the boots on for a game with the mighty saints resulted in a cracking day on the hill; listening to old bobby giving it to the umps and opposition then when they throw the abuse back he just does his old trick and turns the hearing aids off and keeps it going quite funny if you're there. went for a few runs around the town in the evening and the stars in the bush are just amazing, so much brighter without the city lights, was very peaceful and the 12km seemed to fly by throughout the night. this culminated in the birthday/farewell dinner at the feddy with a few beers and a lovely meal and all my family and friends that could make it and spoiling the crap out of me which i was very grateful for. got to hold my beautiful neice and cousin Maddie and Xav. holding maddie was the best such a cutie, shes going to grow up so dam fast whilst i'm away its crazy to even think about it. going to miss her heaps as well as everyone else.
So the final week saw me saying goodbye to berrigan and giving my nan, mum and sister a massive hug and kiss then hit the frog and toad to shepparton where i was born, to spend some time with my dad and catch up with my auntys and uncles and cousins. This week has been quite cruisey yet busy doing the final packing, heaps of birthday dinners and the like and a few beers and movies in between. tomorrow its off to the big smoke for the pub crawl that people have been talking about for months. it should be a rippa of a day and night just hope i survive to make the flight for new adventures abroad... insert indiana jones theme music a 30hr flight and a 7hr bus trip and abra ka dabra we'll be surfin USA.
till next post
