Where I stayed
This morning we left Kelso, WA and headed west towards the coast of Washington and crossed over into Astoria, Oregon.
Our first stop was Fort Clatsop, the place where Lewis and Clark Expedition built a fort after arriving from the Columbia River. Very interesting and the movie was excellent as it told all about the travels they went through coming from Missouri to explore the Louisiana Purchase territory.
From there we headed south along the Oregon Coast on Pacific Coast Highway 101. The scenery was beautiful. We took a side trip on the Three Capes Loop, which took us to Cape Meares and one of the many lighthouses along the coast. The huge rocks in the Pacific Ocean really are quite picturesque.
We also stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, had a tour, sampled various cheeses and had some wonderful creamy ice cream for lunch.
Tonight we are in Lincoln City, just south of Tillamook.
