We left Modesto, CA and headed to Yosemite NP. Drove past acres & acres of almond and pistachio trees along the route. We walked to Lower Yosemite Falls (no water as it dries up by September. Then we walked to the Vernal Falls footbridge via the Mist Trail. The sign said 1.4 miles RT, but it was all uphill and I was "pooped" by the time I got there. George, who will be 70 in November was not breaking a sweat or huffing and puffing like me. I swear he is the Energizer Bunny in disguise. There was a trickle of water coming off the falls. 2-3 weeks ago 2 little boys drowned at the footbridge so there must have been water back then. Made you realize how tragic a simple hike can be when you don't heed the warning signs.
