Today we left Asheville heading north.  It was 45 degrees when we got up this morning......mighty chilly.  Our first stop was at Burnsville to look at the quilt blocks painted on various buildings.  I expected them to be painted on old barns, but they weren't so we took pictures anyway.  I guess the real quilt barn trails are in Northeast Tennessee.  We then headed up the Blue Ridge Parkway.  By the time we reached 3500ft elevation it was 34 degrees and spitting snow, wind blowing and cold so we didn't see too much.  By the time we got off the BRP it was lunch time so we headed to Boone, NC and just happened to find a nice place to eat.  It was called The Daniel Boone Inn.  There was a line out the door waiting to get in so we figured it was a good place.  Sure enough the meal consisted of fried chicken, country fried steak, mashed potato, corn, green beans, regular rolls and rolls with ham, cole slaw, stewed apples, gravy and your choice of chocolate cake w/whipped cream and sauce, strawberry shortcake, or banana pudding.  As you can see....we've eaten darn good on this trip.

From here we headed east to Interstate 77 North and thinking we would stay just over the border in Virginia for the night.  Well, football games and homecoming at colleges fixed that idea.  We had to travel about 2 hours north to Lexington, Va before we could find a room.  Arrived at 6:00 p.m and are now tucked in for the night.
