Where I stayed
We headed from Chesapeake, Va to the Outer Banks today. Crossed over to the islands into Kitty Hawk and headed north on Route 12 to Corolla where we took an tour with Corolla Outback Adventure to see the Wild Horses of Corolla. 8 of us packed into the back of an open-air truck for the tour. We headed out onto the beach and our driver drove about 12 miles up the beach and out into the sand dunes to find the wild horses. We found about 10 horses and what a beautiful sight it was seeing these animals in this type of environment. Saw a lot that we wouldn't have been able to see with our own vehicle as a lot of the roads were flooded from the hurricane and recent rains aout in the sand dune areas. We all loved the trip and had a great tour.
We then sent to the Wright Brothers Museum where they flew the first airplane.
Bev found us a place to eat after the tour, it was called "Sam & Omies". Once we got inside we found it was a "local bar hangout", but our waitress was great and the shrimp sandwiches were yummy.
We headed off the island about 5 pm. and drove about an hour to Plymouth, NC to our hotel for the night. Took lots of pictures today.
