Where I stayed
Today we headed to Wind Cave National Park, about 10 miles from Custer, SD. We got there just as they were doing a tour that was called Natural Entrance Tour. It went 210 ft. below the ground. It is the 4 longest cave in the world. We descended down 300 steps (stairway), but came back up via an elevator. Quite interesting as it is the only cave with boxwood (honeycomb) type formations.
From there we did the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park, where we saw lots of buffalo, some begging donkeys that came right up to the car, and pronghorn deer.
Then we went to the Crazy Horse Memorial. It is the world's largest mountain carving and it was started in 1948 and privately funded. It probably won't be finished in my lifetime, but it will be beautiful when it is completed.......very impressive.
