13th April - Christchurch
We left Franz Josef early this morning to drive back to Christchurch, on the way we stopped in this town called Hokitika and went to this Jade factory. Sarah explained to us about the Jade that it can be really lucky but sometimes unlucky when you get it. It goes something like this, you buy a necklace but for someone else to give to them as a present and it brings them luck, first you wear it for a while before you give it to them. The maori people bless it and then you cleanse it before you put it on by putting it under running water outside somewhere. You can get them cut into all different shapes and they have all different meanings. It was cool hearing about it and there were some massive ones that are crazy expensive!
After that we carried on and went through a place called Arthur's Pass, we stopped to have a look at this waterfall and get out the coach for a bit and it was bloody windy and pretty fresh.
We got to Christchurh in the afternoon and had a bit of a chill out evening.
