A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT MEXICO:

THERE ARE TWO HIGH MOUNTAIN RANGES GOING DOWN MEXICO'S EAST AND WEST COASTS  -  THE SIERRA MADRES EAST AND THE SIERRA MADRES WEST  -  BETWEEN THE TWO MOUNTAIN RANGES IS A HIGH PLATEAU  -  WHICH IS WHERE MOST OF THE CITIES OF MEXICO ARE. BECAUSE OF THE HIGHT OF THE PLATEAU, THE TEMPERATURE IS QUITE TEMPERATE IN THIS AREA. ALL OF THE TOURIST, RESORT AREAS ARE ON THE PACIFIC COAST OR THE CARIBBEAN COAST WHERE IT CAN AND DOES GET QUITE HOT.
HENCE, TOURISTS GET THE IMPRESSION THAT MEXICO IS A VERY HOT COUNTRY, WHICH, EXCEPT FOR THE TOURIST, RESORT AREAS ON THE COASTS, IT IS NOT.

THERE ARE MORE VOLCANOES IN MEXICO THAN IN THE REST OF THE WORLD - MOST ARE DORMANT, SOME HAVE BEEN DORMANT FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS  -  BUT SOME ARE ACTIVE  - THERE IS A BIG VOLCANO ABOUT 50 KILOMETERS FROM MILAQUE, AT COLIMA, WHICH IS ACTIVE AND IS A TOURIST ATTRACTION  -  I DID NOT GO AND SEE IT. THE TWO BIGGEST VOLCANOES IN THE WORLD ARE JUST OUTSIDE OF MEXICO CITY  -  THE BOTH HAVE TONGUE TWISTER NAMES THAT I CANNOT REMEMBER OR PRONOUNCE. YOU COULD VERY EASILY SEE THE VOLCANOES FROM MEXICO CITY IF THE AIR WAS CLEAR  -  WHICH IT IS NOT. SO MOST OF THE TIME YOU CANNOT SEE THE VOLCANOES FROM MEXICO CITY BECAUSE OF THE POLLUTION.

THERE ARE ENGLISH SPEAKING COMMUNITIES ALL OVER MEXICO  -  LAKE CHAPALA AREA  -  GAUDALAJARA  -  SAN MIQUEL  -  DELORES DE HILDAGO  -  ETC.  AND THERE ARE ENGLISH SPEAKING COMMUNITIES IN ALL OF THE LITTLE TOWNS DOWN THE WEST (PACIFIC) COAST OF MEXICO. I WAS STOPPED IN MEXICO CITY SEVERAL TIMES BY MEXICAN STUDENTS DOING THEIR ENGLISH ASSIGNMENTS  - THEY HAD TO ASK ME QUESTIONS IN ENGLISH AND RECORD MY ANSWERS IN ENGLISH.

THAT IS ALL FOR NOW

Married!!!!
A message from David's son, Alexander, to add to my father's congrats and elaborate on the message he posted.

On April 3, on Long Beach, Lanta island in Thailand, at sunset, Lisa and I exchanged our wedding vows and rings. It was only us on the beach, with the waves washing in around the white sand and our feet. Pictures will be coming shortly, once we get to Australia (which will be tomorrow). We are both excited to be married, and with our upcoming adventure in Australia.

We do plan on having a wedding reception and celebration in Ottawa (and Calgary) for our friends and family, but that will be at least a year away, and maybe not until our return from Australia.

Have fun everyone!
Alex and Lisa Burton
