Mis Estimados Compadres,
Amigos, Compaņeros;:

I am now in Mexico and I am eating my meals in the sun on outdoor Mexican restaurant patio's, walking in the sunshine and I have the four outside doors to my terrace and two balconies open all of the time to let in the warm fresh air..
My place is on the second floor... ...I hate Ottawa winters - I do not want to go outside and do things there,I want to hibernate there, and I find the cold weather and darkness a real downer..
When I left Ottawa, there had been rain, then freezing, then ice, then snow, then snow covering the black ice, then it got really cold and it seemed to be dark in Ottawa by 4:30pm in the afternoon. Living in the cold and the dark does not appeal to me..
But leaving Ottawa in its miserable, cold dark weather makes me appreciate Mexico much more.
This is the first time that I have not left Ottawa for Mexico before the cold bad weather came... .

I am now back in San Miguel, Mexico and loving it..
San Miguel has grown on me,
I have fallen in love with San Miguel,
and I have come to love San Miguel.

My life here in San Miguel seems to be simpler and less complicated for me
than my life seems to be in Ottawa..
It is a simper, less complicated life for me here in San Miguel, than it is Ottawa.
Less pressures, less commitments, a simpler, easier, more interesting and friendly  life,
that suits me.......

That is in part because San Miguel is a much smaller city than Ottawa...
The Ottawa area has a population of over one million,
and San Miguel population is under a 100,000 and probably closer to 50,000,
and I definitely prefer smaller than bigger at this stage of my life, the last lap of my life..
In San Miguel, I can grasp a picture of the whole city of San Miguel in my mind,
which I cannot do in Ottawa....
When I lived in downtown Ottawa, downtown Ottawa was the city of Ottawa for me..
When I lived in Vanier, Vanier was the city of Ottawa for me...

Having just spent a long summer in Ottawa,
I came to realize that I definitely prefer San Miguel to Ottawa ..

San Miguel is small, but it has a very active intellectual, artistic, creative
and interesting English speaking population... And in many ways,
I feel like I am a part of this community in San Miguel,
in ways that I do not feel like I am part of the community in Ottawa....

I think that living in a smaller community makes a person feel like they are a more significant part of that community.. San Miguel may have a population of between 50,000 to 100,000 people;
but the English speaking population is more like about 10,000 people - and it is that English speaking community in San Miguel that I am part of...

And I do like the Mexican culture and Mexico...
And the sunny warm weather does hurt either....
I enjoy walking out onto the terrace of my condo,
in the morning, which is off of my bedroom,
and greeting the bright sunny day in the morning..

If anyone who  folllows my travel blog is interested in coming to San Miguel for a visit,
let me know, and we will see what we can do....

Hasta Luego,
