Have been stuck in Niagara Falls for two days because the car rentals are not open on the weekends, and it is a weekend, and I have to switch my American car rental, THE JEEP, to a Canadian car rental. Some complicated maneuvering is required for me to return my American car rental on the American side of the border and get a Canadian car rental on the Canadian side of the Border and get my stuff from the American car rental, THE JEEP, into the Canadian car rental. Several border crossings are required to accomplish this maneuver..
All border crossings went well - no searches..

I am in Niagara Falls, Canada but it does not really feel like Canada. There are more American tourists here than Canadian tourists.Away, way more American tourists than Canadian tourists..
I am in a double bind - the car rentals are not open on the weekend and I need to get a car rental and Niagara Falls is packed with tourists on the weekends - had to go to 10 motels before I could find one with a vacancy - and had to pay a lot more for the room than I wanted to - all motel and hotel rates are away higher on the weekends than during the week - and I had to pay a higher rate than the high weekend rate - and it was really, really, really hot - in the 30's - and every where I went - it was packed with tourists - a real mad house..... I think that Americans are bigger on the Niagara Falls than Canadians - or maybe there is just a lot more Americans than Canadians period - and everyone was driving around like me - like they didn't know where they were going - like I did not know where I was going - I find people driving around like they do not know where they are going very annoying and irritating..... There were just away too many people around.....
Apparently it is very quiet during the week....Everyone comes on the weekends in June..  In July and August, it is just like one big long weekend for the two months.....The place was packed with bawling, crying kids....

Went to the gambling casino (which is government owned) - it was the size of 10 football fields
- it was packed - hope it was all Americans in there losing their money....
If the Niagara Falls gambling casino is not the biggest gambling casino in Ontario, the biggest gambling casino in Ontario must really be humongous. At some point a gambling casino must be too big and it would be better to have two gambling casinos 's - even if they were side by side.
I could get lost in the Niagara Falls gambling casino... maybe that it is the idea - have the casino
so big that people get lost in it and cannot find their way out and just stay there..
There was a big sign pointing the way to the Responsible Gambling Centre - what a joke..
I do not gamble and am not interested in gambling - maybe I should have checked out the
responsible Gambling centre.. and given them a big story about how I had been completely destroyed by gambling - how I had been a happy married man with a good job, house, car, career and now I had  nothing and was thinking about ending it all - they probably would have banned me from the Casino - they do not really care much about gamblers who have lost everything and have nothing else left to lose..
I always find going through a gambling casino very depressing.. The people in the gambling casino's look like lost souls that really have nothing to left to live for.
They are not the type of people that I know or would ever want to know...
I find it very disgusting that the government of the people, by the people and for the people
runs soul destroying operations like this. People say that the gamblers are adults and have to take responsibility for themselves. The government could sell drugs to people, drug addicts, taking that same approach...

Ringo Star is playing at the casino with his All Star Band next week.....
I didn't know that he was still around - he probably doesn't write music or sing so I do not know what he would really do - play old Beattle songs I guess...

Took a lot of pictures of the Niagara Falls, the Niagara Falls City skyline, the Rainbow Bridge,
pictures of my self (self portraits I call them) in my hotel room..., pictures of the Niagara Falls from The Keg, steakhouse, on the 20th floor of a hotel overlooking the Niagara Falls - felt like treating myself to an overpriced steak meal at The Keg - it was good!!!!  I am not sure how much I enjoy eating by myself - when I eat by myself, I have a strong tendency to just shovel the food down as fast as I can and get it over with.. and a few pictures of the Casino - did not take any pictures of the sea of 10 football fields of slot machines and gaming tables.... Not sure if you are allowed to take pictures in a gambling casino..... privacy issues you know, of the people that are gambling there.... A number of states in the USA have passed laws making it illegal to take pictures of policemen - based on the concept of privacy - personally I think that there are other reasons for making it illegal to take a picture of a policeman - and of course it does allow the police to beat anyone to a pulp who does take their pictures, because they are committing and illegal act and it also allows the police to confiscate the camera as evidence of a crime.....

Just so that my gentle readers will realize
that my life is not a sweet dream and heaven and completely problem free...

Renting a car and driving home to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada may seem simple and easy,
but it is not and it was not problem free...

Some problems encountered:

Dilley, Texas, where my car was towed at 11:00pm at night..

Getting a motel room was a problem - Dilley is in the middle of an oil boom and almost all of the motel room were booked - the Oil Companies have booked all of the rooms in some motels until September.... Motel rates were triple the norm....

There are no car rentals in Dilley....

There is no out of town bus service (there is no in town bus service either)...
I asked how would someone get out of town if they did not have a car...
They said that was a good question - they said that, that person would have a problem...
Basically, if you are in Dilley, Texas, and you do not have a car - YOU ARE SCREWED.........

The tow truck operator did not and does not take credit cards - cash only...
The tow tuck towing charge was unbelievably high - it was an emergency call at night time
and involved being towed at least 25 miles, plus cleanup charges
- the tow truck driver had to cleanup the mess on the road..The police made him do that.....

The car rental rate at the only car rental agency 50 miles away was outrageously high...
Including a $500 drop off fee for Buffalo, New York...
And the rental car was not allowed to be taken into Canada
- that is why I picked Buffalo, New York as the drop off point....

Getting my stuff from my USA car rental to a car rental in Canada
involved a bunch of tricky maneuvering....

When I arrived in Fort Eire, across the border from Buffalo - the only car rental agency
in town had gone out of business...

Drove to Niagara Falls to rent a Canadian car.
It was a Saturday and all of the car rentals in Niagara Falls were closed on Saturdays and Sundays..... and there are 100's of motels and hotels in Niagara Falls and almost all of them
were full - the weekend is their busy time - and they charge double and triple their regular room rates on the weekends...

Motorcycle helmets not required in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio..

Looks great seeing people on motorcycles with out having those big gawky
motorcycle helmets on – it is like the good old days…..

Motorists are legally required to have their seat belts on….

I am wearing my seat belt now because in my rented JEEP there is a constant,
very irritating and annoying beeping sound if you do not put your seat belt on…

Every city that I drive into has big high tall buildings and an amazing skyline.
See pictures of Niagara Falls/Canada

Like an anthill, each city has a solid stream of ants streaming in and out of the anthill/city. Sometimes I can see down the road for 15 or 20 miles and all 3 lanes going each way are filled with cars with ants in them – streaming in and out of the anthill. The ants must be very industrious and do more than stream in and out of the anthills to build such amazing anthills with so many big, high, tall building and such an amazing network of roads with clover leafs and overpasses and underpasses and rest stations and gas stations and MacDonald's and huge, humongous gambling casino's and everything….the ants streaming in and out of the ant hills (cities) do not actually seem to be doing anything, accomplishing anything or getting anything done... but that is the way ants are... if you look closely at the pictures of Niagara Falls you will see little ants all over the place - lining up to take a boat right up to Niagara Falls and coming back - they are not actually doing anything, accomplishing anything or getting anything done....you will see the ants lined up at railing just standing there staring at the Niagara Falls - and they are not actually doing anything, accomplishing anything or getting anything done.....
