Here's the deal: we followed American Idol all season, cheered for Taylor Hicks to win (after all, he's from Birmingham, and his daddy has his dental office near to my daddy's house, so that practically makes us kin). So now, Taylor and the Idol Tour are stopping in Tacoma.

Matt gets the call to go with me, I need a teen escort. I got tickets late, so our seats are two rows from the top. No never mind, we'll drive down, have a nice dinner, and see the show. Teens surely love to eat.

Goodby Alex, yes I'm coming back. Goodbye Jack, see you tomorrow. Hello Matt, want to get some school clothes first? Oh yeah! he's happy then, school is starting Wednesday and he's high school bound. No shirts with things on them, he says, while flipping through the rack. I pull out a yellow shirt, very plain. Too French, he says. I try for plaid. I'm not a FARMER, he reminds me. Getting with the program now, I hone in on navy, brown and black. I've got this teen thing figured out. Till we get to jeans. Too NEW, he says. I lean against a post and wait while he frowns at a hundred pair. But then, the faded stack! Oh joy, they even have a hole or two. For that, they charge you more. Couldn't you just snag yourself on a nail? I ask.

I'll get you a package of socks, I offer next. Aha! No longer crew. Ankle, low cut, super low cut, don't you want your ankles WARM? I get a look.  My contribution is to hold the credit card. And, my tongue.
