First a stop to pick up Andrew. Pull the cooler out of the trunk and give it to Dad, he'll have more room in his car when he comes later in the afternoon.
Then ride south for an hour to Kent to get Jake and Brett. They are ready and waiting by the curb. Sleeping bags, packs, oh geez boys, your packs will have to sit on your lap.
We cram everything in and the drive begins. We've got 75 miles to cover, over way-too-crowded mountain roads. Everybody is talking about school. High school, junior high, elementary, sports, ROTC, the WASL test. I'm beaming, my grandkids all are really SMART.
Oops, now we're hungry. Did I build lunchtime into our schedule? The traffic in Monroe isn't moving. Good grief please show us a sign.
Ah, there it is, the golden arches of Mickey D's. It feels good to get out of the car.
