We have to leave really really early in the morning to drive to Anacortes to catch the ferry. It only goes to Friday Harbor every four hours.
So I pick Matthew up the evening before. Here's some food to take, says his Dad. A jar of garlic-stuffed olives. Aha! We'll get the rest of our snacks tonight, load the car, get our showers, lay out our clothes.
Into the Safeway, push the cart down every aisle. Matthew likes corn nuts. Cheezits. I get Fiddle Faddle. Gatorade? No, some other brand of stuff, all blue and purple and looking fake to me. I buy water. Big bottles of it.
Turkey, ham and cheese. Bread. We need cookies, don't we? We each pick. Nutter Butters, gotta have that.
How did we wind up with seven bags of groceries for a one-night trip?
