Go with me? The festivities started back in November. Decorations sprouted, sales touted, and traffic was re-routed as Santa paraded his way into town. Everything from ice revues to zany zoos has been vying for our attention. Feeling a bit tired? Let's slow it down this weekend, in homey Victorian mode at the Choo Choo.

We're going to gently browse our way through the shops that sit by the sidetracks of the old railroad terminal. And pick up a few last-minute decorations and gifts. Where else could we find Elvis The Young smiling at us from a white pearlized ornament, or a striped wooden cat with wings, ready to hang on our tree?

Handcrafted rag angels with pink roses in hand wait in a shop window, needing a home to watch over. A fat red pig with a curly tail flies from a cord in the glass-blower's shop, while a plucky plastic parrot sits outside in his cage, hoping his flashy green will catch an eye.

There's a grown-up teapot shaped like Henry VIII, and the tiniest ivy-covered teaset for a sweet little girl. Do you know someone who needs an Ancient Egypt Explorer's Kit? Or a bottle of Southern Praline syrup? Take home a Jack Daniels Tipsy cake, too.

See, shopping can be fun! Record the holiday by getting your picture made at the Old Tyme Portrait shop, or go into the Grand Dome lobby and pose in a carriage drawn by a carousel horse. If you take your camera with you, you'll want to snap the red-and-green Choo Choo engine wearing its holiday wreath. Of course the biggest wreath in town -- 60 feet across -- hangs in the main lobby.

Don't leave too early. The twinkle of 100,000 lights and reindeer silhouettes calls for an after-dark stroll along the inner courtyard garden paths. Catch the early evening music in the Dome, then pick a restaurant for a nice ending to the day. See you there.
