Go with me? All roads lead to merriment this weekend. Especially New Castle road where the wooded hills turn 16th Century and King Henry VIII presides. It's the Tennessee Renaissance Festival, and you may want to consider the season pass. It will keep you merry through all the month of May.

There's a Children's weekend (kids get Robin Hood hats), a Harvest weekend (it benefits the food pantries), a Celtic weekend (wear something plaid), and my favorite, a Love and Romance weekend.

It's wooing time May 2 and 3, with an on-stage contest where those who've figured out "how to" display their real-live techniques for capturing hearts. If you're un-mated, you can get a numbered chip when you enter the gate. Find the holder of the matching chip and you win dinner and a prize. And maybe another date?

There's something for everyone. Music, comedy, magicians, sword-fighting - take your pick of continuous entertainment on several stages. Or play chess on a human chess board. Kids will love the Crow's Nest, and the Carouselo - authentic, non-motorized, man-powered rides. Wear a costume, or just admire the English Faire garb of the costumed actors wandering the village.

And what's an English countryside without a jousting match? Armored knights on mighty war horses do full contact battle each day at 5 pm, with Henry officiating.

Shop for jewelry, clothing, or your own sword at 55 craft booths. And feast on sumptuous goodies such as colossal turkey legges, mouth-watering pastries, and English ales. See you there.
