Go with me? We're going to ride out the rest of the winter at the pool hall. That is, the Chattanooga Billiard Club, where the "hall" houses 20 finely crafted Steepleton tables inlaid with a one-inch Italian slate base. And a full kitchen serves up salmon and steaks. And co-ed leagues attract friends and families every week.

New leagues are just forming for the series ending in April; call immediately to sign up. Recruit your own team or ask to be placed; the weekly fee is $5. General BCA rules are followed for 8-ball or 9-ball play and yes, there are trophies.

Did you know that pool is the second-largest recreational sport in the country today? It's ahead of golf, tennis and bowling. Age and gender don't matter in pool, it's concentration and a steady hand that count. And neither rain nor dark of night will affect your game. Most clubs are open till the early-morning hours. The CBC even lets you play free after midnight certain days of the week. A deal for night owls!

In addition to pool, you'll find traditional darts and high-technology video games. And in the Tropicana Room - music. Wednesday evenings go for a little salsa Latino and Bill Raider's complimentary mini dance lessons.

Fridays and Saturdays the blues take over. This weekend Georgia songbird E G Kight comes on-stage at 9. Watch for Debi D's Rhapsody & Blues and Microwave Dave & the Nukes during February.

If you like to play cards, see if you can beat Mad Max at "pretend" blackjack. It may not be for real, but it's 21 for Fun. See you there.
