Go with me? Not too many places invite you to visit in your flannel pajamas. But Noel Nitey Nite at the Bell Buckle Cafe & Music Parlour encourages it, if you're a kid. At least this Saturday, when you can snuggle among the Christmas decorations and feel like it's home.

Gathered round the stage with a milk-and-cookie promise at the end, our jammie-clad crew will be treated to an all-original collection of songs and stories by Diana Rae. Her Noel Nitey Nite album has received rave reviews and this live-on-Saturday free show is a real family-pleasing event.

Disney likes Diana's music too. Her song "What It's Like To Be A Mermaid" is on the "Little Mermaid" soundtrack. This level of talent is standard performance fare for the Bell Buckle. Since J. Gregory and Jeanette Heinike bought it five years ago, they have established a reputation for outstanding music and food.

There is always something going on in the Music Parlour. Spotlights and sound devices and recording paraphernalia spread across the back wall of the second dining room in this informal place. Music is live weekend nights and Sundays at noon. Songwriters get a mike on Thursdays and the J. Gregory Jamboree is broadcast live over WLIJ on Saturday afternoons.

Plus every now and then, somebody records an album there. Bell Buckle Records has produced four so far, and one of their recording groups performs tonight. Get there by 6:30 to catch the lively Mulberrys.

And go to eat! Join the folks who pile in from everywhere to dig into their famous smoked chops or barbecue. This time of year try their vegetable beef stew and hot chili; hoe cakes are served with every meal.

No alcohol in this family place, but the iced tea or fresh-squeezed lemonade is served in fruit jars by the pint or quart. Their vegetables and salads are better than good (try the broccoli/sunflower), and nobody leaves without tasting their signature dessert - homemade oatmeal cake with caramel topping.

Stay the weekend in this delightful community that's home to Tennessee's Poet Laureate Maggie Vaughn. They have two antique malls and five full-time Bed & Breakfast spots; one is the Bell Buckle Bed & Breakfast. They have unique craft shops on the square. And they have the famous Bell Buckle Cafe & Music Parlour. See you there.
