Go with me? Don't look now, but Christmas is just around the corner. Holiday decorations are set to glitter and Santa has pulled his suit out of mothballs. Want to have your shopping done before turkey day? That would be something to be thankful for! So our destination is the Trade Center.

Today and tomorrow it's brimful of gifts, gifts, gifts in a razzle-dazzle Holiday Market scene. The Junior League has done it again. For the seventh year in a row, they've packed the Trade Center with vendors from all over the country. Gifts Galore is what they call it, and gifts galore we'll find.

Did you bring your list? Over here is polar fleece clothing; over there children's toys. Baskets are fun to give; how about pastas and soups for your gourmet friends, or bath products and a spa weekend for that person who needs to slow down?

I can see we'll be traipsing to the car several times with our packages. Unique imports catch our eye - in that booth handcrafted items from Russia and Eastern Europe; in that one African tribal art and collectibles; another has Mexican pewter. And some local galleries are here with framed originals or prints.

There are 79 booths in all and 34 vendors are brand-new to the Market this year. Wander the floor and select from antiques or garden accessories or stationery or even decorations that you can use from turkey day till the bowl games are finished.

It's pleasant shopping, as choruses and choirs get us in the mood with White Christmas melodies and Jingle Bell Rock. Local garden clubs have decked the hall with a marvelous Christmas Tree twinkle.

Is your little girl an American Girl? Josephina is the newest creation - this doll represents 19th century New Mexico. The three American Girl luncheons are sold out, but you can buy raffle tickets for two give-aways of the doll. See Josephina first at the Market!

"Remember, shopping here allows you to give a double gift," says Amber Tappin, public relations chair of this year's event. "The League's purpose in sponsoring the Holiday Market is to raise funds in support of the community." The Junior League devotes endless volunteer hours to community development. Our support of the Market this weekend allows us to give them a helping hand. See you there.
