Go with me? It's two-step double time for this in-town dance weekend. Tonight I'm headed for the Barking Legs, the classy, black-box theater-that-used-to-be-a-curtain-factory at the bottom of Missionary Ridge. No curtains now, in this intimate 80-seat house. We're up close and personal enough to see the silver gleam of the clickety-clack as three ladies from NYC treat us to tap rhythms tweaked with funk, jazz and rap. Add a little feminist satire and song and it's quite a kick!

The show is The Rhythm Method by Changing Times Tap Company. CoPAC gets performers into the community too. Lessons at different levels are available all weekend from these University scholars who are leading the tap movement in the United States. Call.

Saturday it's mega-contrast, over on Broad. The large, lush, jewel-box Tivoli is always a treat. Doll it up with pumpkins, carriages, and fairy godmothers Cinderella style and it's magic. Get out of that chair, Dad, and be a charming prince. This Ballet Tennessee production is a family event! And let's read the original version with the kids before we go.

We can Chatta-boogie our way to the little brass dance steps implanted in the sidewalk on north Frazier Avenue, grab a book on music, dance, politics or fairytales at Barrett Bookseller, and then follow our feet. See you there.
