On the banks of the Sequatchie River in Marion County, parts of Ketners Mill date to 1824; the new addition 1882. It's still working, pick up some stone-ground cornmeal after you've admired the simplicity of this water-driven operation.
Ketner's Mill Fall Country Fair is usually held the middle weekend in October. The country fair has all the things you'd expect; country cooking, more than 150 artists and craftspersons, and music and dancing. You can catch a wagon ride around the place or canoe the peaceful Sequatchie waters.
Prentice Cooper State Forest is a 26,800-acre day-use area on the southern tip of Walden Ridge; hiking and mountain biking trails; rifle, archery, hunting allowed. Cumberland State Scenic Trail winds through forest; limited primitive camping.
