When you come out of the Gorge, you reach the widest waters of TVA's Nickajack Lake. The 10,900-acre lake has a shoreline of 192 miles and offers an abundance of fishing and boating opportunities.
Boating through the Gorge to the Nickajack Reservation is an autumn tradition on the Fall Color Cruise & Folk Festival during the last two weekends of October. Since 1968 Tennessee's fall color has been celebrated here with music, dancing, crafts and food. This is one of the Top Twenty Annual events in the southeastern United States.
Hales Bar Marina & Campground has houseboat and pontoon rental, covered storage, and 42 campsites.
