Tour the L & N Depot/Railroad Museum in downtown Etowah. This restored Victorian railroad passenger station has a museum on the first floor and an art gallery on the second.
Another historic spot is the Gem Theatre. It opened in 1928 and is considered the largest privately owned theater in East Tennessee; both film and live.
The Hiwassee Ranger Station is here and provides trail maps and information on the Cherokee National Forest.
