Chickamauga National Battlefield Park
The Battlefield is part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, the oldest and largest military park in the nation, dedicated in 1895. Watch a 26-minute multi-media show in the Visitor Center's Centennial Theatre about the fierce Battle of September 19 and 20, 1863. There are other demonstrations, displays and exhibits, including the 355 weapons of the Fuller Gun Collection; a well-stocked book store and facilities for doing research.
In the park are monuments, historical tablets, hiking trails, and horse trails. Pick up a map to guide you and explain the 8 stops on the 7-mile auto tour; rent a special tape tour produced by the Eastern National Park & Monument Association.
