I'd reserved a suite, jacuzzi and a fireplace too. Why not, I thought. We got the key, and entered in, alas, the suite was roadside, the noise of cars too bothersome, after a night of clickety-clack. I wanted peaceful sleep.

I'll just take a small, I said back at the desk, the quietest room you've got. They offered a fireplace room overlooking the pool. Okay, I said, that's nice. We threw our stuff and washed our faces, let's go eat next! We remembered Truby's, the wood-fired pizza place beside the Little Red Caboose of morning eats.

Ah yes, the smell of pizza there, a table by the windowside, a warm and friendly place, we ate and ate. And then I asked our server -- what is there to do? We have all day tomorrow but everything seems closed. A huddle then, she asked the others there, they checked the phone book, made some calls. Montana friendly, there it was again! A name she gave us, written down, a phone number too. Call Gaynor's Ranch, it said, horseback riding there.

Back in our room, now full of meat and cheese, we light the fireplace up, each take a long and soaking bath, play games and read our books, luxuriate in all the space. And bedtime soon, but what's that noise? Shouting, yelling, where's that coming from?

The pool? We peep outside our window now, and sure enough, people playing in the pool, I'd never thought of swimming in the cold, a southern girl am I. Oh well, so much for quiet.

Still, it wasn't hard to fall asleep.
