Every day, while Matt was in Alabama, he laughed about the kudzu. It is everywhere you look, a vine that can grow 30 feet a day (so they say); it runs up the trees, glosses over a junk pile, can even consume a house. The story is legend about the family who went on vacation and couldn't find their house when they returned!
Matt planned to take some kudzu to Seattle with him, to see what it would do in a northwest clime. But we forgot.
His birthday is next week. I drive around the neighborhood, looking for some kudzu I can reach, and cut. An empty lot by the post office gives me just what I need, I water it overnight, then pack it up to send. Happy Birthday, Matt!
