Craig treated us to lunch at Bob Baumhower's sports place, right near campus, where everything is about, well, sports. The menu is extensive though, not just hot wings and beer -- I managed to get turkey and dressing for my Sunday dinner, and sweet tea of course. Now, this was a FRIED turkey dinner, but not like KFC crispy, the big old turkey was deep fried, whole, and my slice of it was tender and moist, just as promised. The place was crowded out, had they all been to church, or to the museum?
Next was a ride-around-campus tour, mainly so Matt could see the stadium and the statues out front along the Walk of Fame. When I lived in Tuscaloosa, about two blocks back from Denny Stadium, it seated maybe 31,000. It's still in the same place, but now 101,000 crowd into "Bryant Denny Stadium" on home football Saturdays, I'll bet parking's a bitch. Oh, right, they have shuttles.
It's a big place, a football-loving town, no doubt about it. Home of the Crimson Tide.
