Well, there's always room for surprises in life. Downtown Chicago. Sunday morning, about 10 am. Starbucks, restaurants, stores, pharmacies... closed! Ok, ok, I'll admit it was the Business District, and, well, offices don't usually work on Sundays :) But... it's still pretty much downtown... Oh well, there was one Starbucks open, so we could eat breakfast :-P Only thing though: I learned a very important lesson today. By all means, I cannot and should not and will not ever again drink Grande Lattes just before going on the road! Dear god, that was almost to the limit of painful. I literally needed to pee every 5 min, but are there bathrooms every 5 min? Heck no. Actually, I-88 had barely no rest stops o.O We had to go on emergency scavenger hunts every 20 miles or so. Dear dear. Let's just say it took MUCH longer to get to Iowa then it should of lol But we eventually made it!... Like an hour later than I had told my friend I'd be there ^_^;
Ok, I should maybe rewind here a bit. So this morning we left Chicago to go towards Iowa to visit one of my very good friends, he lives just on the border of Illinois and Iowa, not too far from Davenport. I found Illinois to be, well, kinda rather very flat... lol I'm sure the Prairies are flatter though :-P But it was still pretty interesting to see: no hills, or barely no hills, no curves, no tress to block the view, farms all around and as far as your eyes can see... It was kinda cool :) Then we spend the day at my friend's, and now we're back at the room (which was upgraded to a king suite, damn, it's huge lol), and I'm beat so I'll just go crash ;-) Tomorrow, the long drive home starts... boo, that means our vacation's coming to an end :(
